Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) and Uzbekistan World Economy and Diplomacy University (UWED) successfully completed the TÖMER Summer School Program organized within the framework of academic cooperation. Certificates were presented to four students and five faculty members participating in the program by MAKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar.
In his speech at the certificate ceremony, Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar stated that Uzbekistan is not only a friendly country for Turkey but also a brotherly geography with a shared history and culture, expressing that the developing cooperation between the two universities significantly contributes to the academic integration of the Turkish world.
Emphasizing that the summer school programs held every year further strengthen these ties, Rector Dalgar mentioned that they aim for MAKÜ students to participate in educational and cultural programs in Tashkent in the future. He expressed that academic cooperation should not be limited to student mobility, noting that increasing faculty exchange programs and joint scientific projects would elevate the relations between the two universities to a higher level.
Pointing out the strategic importance of educational and cultural collaborations established with Turkish Republics, Prof. Dr. Dalgar highlighted that especially the youth are the most important element that will shape the future of these relations. He stated that sharing the academic and social experiences gained in Turkey in Uzbekistan would strengthen mutual trust between societies, and that friendships established through education would contribute to making the brotherhood ties between the two countries permanent.
The delegation from Uzbekistan World Economy and Diplomacy University, speaking at the program, noted that the cooperation between the two universities has been developing more each year. Expressing that the summer school programs were productive, the delegation members stated that the joint online studies were also successfully ongoing, and they expressed their desire to increase academic exchange programs and joint projects.
Uzbekistani academics expressed that they would be pleased to host the MAKÜ administration in Tashkent, stating that they wanted the cooperation to be strengthened not only through student exchange but also through mutual visits of faculty members, and they invited Rector Dalgar.
At the end of the ceremony, the Uzbek delegation presented traditional gifts unique to their country to Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar. Rector Dalgar also celebrated the successful summer school program by giving various gifts along with certificates to the participating students and academics.
